  • Start Date: July 2015

Description of Project:

Description of Venture: The Eco and Heritage Tourism product has a unique quality as it is the first missionary settlement in Jamaica. There is significant interest worldwide and particularly Europe and the USA in heritage and the environment. The business is within an area known for its food, culture and wetlands which will be easily accessible once the roads are repaired. The bed and breakfast concept has reaped success in St Elizabeth at Treasure Beach and will be replicated here. Earnings will come from a diversified income stream and distribution channels. Apart from tourism, food, craft, agro-processing and agro-research will be developed. All items will be trade-marked in order to preserve the intellectual property value of the product.

Aim of the Venture:

To offer a new historical experience of the first missionary settlement in Jamaica (over 259 years old) with a unique culinary experience incorporating the flavours of Carmel and exploring the diverse natural environment with wholesome, unique hospitality of our people.

Objectives:

  • To highlight and preserve the historical significance of the area
  • To provide employment in the tourism industry
  • To develop complementary industries and services

Our Vision:

To become a sustainable and profitable Eco/Heritage tourism attraction with a difference; providing new entrepreneurial opportunities and aiding community development through co-operation

Our Mission:

To provide an excellent visitor experience through quality products and services whilst expanding job opportunities and building sustainable cottage industries through community based tourism
