Description of Project:
Description of Venture: The old England community has three greenhouses one of which was donated by their MP Mr. Michael Peart and two (2) by Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF). They have an irrigation pond that was donated by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica and fencing of the pond was finance by Community Safety Fund (CSF) to ensure security of the pond. The greenhouses are strategically built within the community. It was acquired through the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS). The greenhouse produces items such as Sweet Peppers, Tomatoes, Turnip and Pakchoy.Aim of the Venture:
The group aim to utilize the 25 acres of land available to the group, as a platform, to create sustainable employment opportunity for the community.Objectives:
- To provide employment opportunities for community members
- To promote sustainable community development
- To contribute to economic development on a national level
