The Social Development Commission (SDC) at the request of and partnership with various key stakeholders, have targeted for the month of June, the implementation of five (5) Community Market and Business Fairs across the parishes of St. Elizabeth, St. Ann, Westmoreland and St. Catherine. To date, four events were implemented on June 17th , 18th, and 25th respectively, with St. Thomas slated to bring down the curtains on the 26th, to close out a busy but successful June calendar of events.
These Community Market and Business Fairs have provided an opportunity for consumers in each parish to access diverse products from exhibitors who are spread across local agro-processing, craft, fashion, service, and native grown farm-fresh produce industries. Goods and services have continued to be marketed at affordable farm gate prices, which allows for diverse trade and networking between farmers, consumers and the general public. Support agencies such as the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOH&W), Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB), the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) have and are continuing to play key roles in the execution of the events. These events have created for these entities an
