Defending champions Fairfield of Manchester will oppose Westmoreland’s Whitehouse while Junction Ballards Valley of St Elizabeth will meet links united of St. Ann in the Semi-final of the SDC National Community T20 Cricket Competition.
The Ultimate Cricket Ground in St Ann will be buzzing on Sunday August 18 for what will be two highly competitive semi-finals.
Fairfield of Manchester will look to bring the title back to the parish and are in a strong position to do so after their 18 run win over Bridgeport in the quarter-final round at Chedwin Park at the weekend.
Lead by 33 runs from Oshane Walters and 28 runs from Zidane Gordon Fairfield first posted 145 all out. for Bridgeport, Kensington Cricket Club player Jamie Haye claimed four wickets for 25 runs while Dwayne Guthrie had two wickets for 20 runs.
In their run chase Bridgeport were restricted to 127 runs for nine, thanks to some superb bowling from Romario Marshall who picked up 3 wickets for 21 runs and Roshawn McKenzie 2 wickets for 33 runs. Jamaica scorpions player Carlos Brown was the top scorer with 30 while Daniel Beckford and Haye made 21 runs each.
Former champions Junction Ballards valley were the most impressive winners of the four semi-finalists as they ran by Troy Cricket Team of Trelawny by 10 wickets. Lennox Simpson with 4 wickets for 12 runs and former west indies pacer Darren Powell 3 wickets for 8 runs brushed aside the Troy team for just 43 runs after they decided to bat first. Only Shamel Green with 15 got to double figures.
It only took 4.3 overs for Junction Ballards Valley to achieve victory at 44 runs for 1 wicket thanks to 20 runs from Howard Powell and 18 runs not out from Craig Walters.
Whitehouse held their nerve in their 6 run win over Richmond Park thanks to black river high’s Jemar Morgan who grabbed 3 wickets for 17 runs. Chasing 156 runs to win, Richmond Park were bowled out for 149 runs in 19.4 overs. Andre Blake also took 3 for 18 as captain Ralston Nelson top scored with 35 runs. Rushane Gordon also made 34 runs while Andre Bailey got 26 runs.
Earlier Xavi Williams with 54 runs and Kennar Lewis 34 runs carried Whitehouse to 155 runs for 6 wickets after 20 overs. Campion College’s Zachary Buchanan had 2 for 29
St. Ann’s Links United secured the final spot in the last four after beating Gayle of St Mary by seven wickets.
Led by a top score of 51 runs from former Jamaica scorpions player Alwyn Williams Gayle batting first posted 107 runs for 4 wickets after the game was reduced to 15 overs per side due a rain delay.
Anthony Walters supported with 25 runs while national youth representative Trevaun Williams made 16.
In their run chase, it took an unbroken 57 run fourth wicket partnership between Renaldo Ingram 30 runs and Marlon Johnson 23 runs to get them across the line at 108 runs for 3 wickets. Bryce returned to score 24 runs as Ghion Murdock had 1 for 7.
